The European Week for Waste Reduction - The success story continues
For the past years the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) has established itself as a major communication instrument for issues related to waste and sustainable resource management. It became a key channel for public and private actors, civil society and individuals to raise awareness about the “3Rs”: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Clean-Ups.
In June 2017, the current funding of the LIFE+ programme will come to an end, therefore the EWWR project is looking for your support! In order to ensure the European coordination of the EWWR campaign a European Steering Committee will be created. We invite invite both public and private actors to be a member.
What does this mean?
- Being part of the EWWR Steering Committee implies contributing financially or in-kind to the continuation. You can find more information about the proposal, including a budget, here: The EWWR - Continuing a success story;
- The main responsibility of the EWWR Steering Committee is to spread and promote the EWWR mission;
- The EWWR Steering Committee will take all the major decisions on the EWWR. For example on the composition of the EWWR awards jury, the annual thematic focus or the communication strategy;
- In order to make this possible four meetings per year are forseen, 1 physical meeting and 3 virtual meetings. The first meeting will be held on 17 May 2017 in Barcelona.
What are the benefits?
- Being part of a network that promotes and upholds authentic actions towards waste reduction, reuse and recycling;
- Getting access to knowledge from European case studies, experiences and best practices linked to the “3Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and clean-ups;
- Getting tailor-made advice on how to implement waste prevention, reuse, recycling in your organisation;
- Getting involved in a successful European mobilisation on waste reduction;
- A stronger environmental corporate social responsibility profile;
- Getting more visibility across Europe.
Help us achieve the EWWR aim of raising awareness about waste reduction! Be part of the EWWR Steering Committee!
